Stretch Devices L.O.C. Gauge
There are many different methods employed to level pallets and print heads on a press – many aren't very accurate and are time consuming. The idea is to have all of your pallets in the same plane with the print heads an equal and parallel distance away. The L.O.C. Gauge from Stretch Devices makes the process quick, simple and accurate. The L.O.C. Gauge is designed to fit into the screen holder of most automatic presses just as a screen would. The gauge looks like a screen frame without mesh stretched on it. How the gauge works is quite basic. Near each corner of the gauge is a micrometer dial (indicated by [A] in the photo below). Atop the dial is a setting from 30/1,000" to 140/1,000". On the bottom of the dial is a pad that raises or lowers the gauge according to the settings on the top of the dial. This allows you to preset your off-contact between 30/1,000" and 140/1,000" to ensure that all four corners of the pallets are the same and perfectly parallel to the print head.
Bring the pallet into the printing position and then level it to the four dial indicators. Repeat this step for all remaining pallets. After you've leveled all of the pallets equally to your first print head, move the gauge to the next print head. By using your master pallet (the first pallet you leveled), you can level this print head the same as your first head. Follow this step for all of the remaining heads. Sound simple? It is. What in many cases has been an all-day task of trying to level a press can now be accomplished quickly - and more importantly - accurately. So what do we think about the Stretch Devices L.O.C. Gauge? If you have an automatic press and want to get top performance out of your investment, you need to establish parallel planes between your screen holder and the pallets. The L.O.C. Gauge will enable you to do just that, quickly and accurately each and every time. The Press Magazine - PRESS REPORTS - July 1998
